In town - OTA

Sephiroth is keeping to the promise he made to Zack and is in town to get a fan. Two or more, most likely. He is in far better spirits than he has been lately and smiles and greets anyone he happens to meet.

At the shop, he examines the fan designs with a thoughtful eye. As long as they work properly, he doesn’t care much about what they look like. He examines them to see if they all have the same speed levels before finally selecting two.

After getting the fans, it’s time to get fruit juice. For that he heads to the grocery store to see what varieties are available. He can soon be found studying the case where the juices are kept.

At home - Closed to Zack

Back home, Sephiroth puts the juice in the ice box and sets up one fan in the living room. The other is for Zack’s room, and he approaches quietly, not wanting to wake Zack if he’s still asleep. Lucy and the Umbreon Zack trot along with him as he carefully opens the door to look into the room.

[Zack is knocked out, his brain on sleep mode. He's on his stomach, the only time he does it is when he's sick. He Has his hand under his pillow, and wonders where his sword is as soon as he wakes up. That's not unusual given his status as a former SOLDIER. He's sicker than hell, his stomach hurts badly and his head aches right away.]

You think the chocobos will dance... [He mutters in his sleep, then he does an unmanly giggle.] Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah, Cloud will do the electric chocobo.... [He suddenly farts and startles fully awake. He can taste rotten eggs in the burp that comes next.]

Fuck being sick...argh....

[Sephiroth is highly amused by the chocobo comment. Yes, he will most certainly be asking what the "electric chocobo" is at some point.

He shakes his head and comes in with the fan.]

Are you feeling any better?

[He looks for the best spot to set it up.]

[Zack doesn't even remember what he was dreaming. He's vaguely reminded of chocobos and electricity but that's about it. He turns his eyes on Sephiroth and smiles sleepily. There's crust in his eyes and he reaches up to wipe it away.] I'm feeling alright, still ewwie inside though.

[Zack watches for a moment, then talks.] Set it up on the night stand?

Hopefully the prescriptions and the juice will help. I have several kinds of juice.

[He nods and places the fan on the nightstand, then plugs it in. Lucy sits on the footboard and lets the fan blow her ears around, fascinated. Sephiroth chuckles at that.]

I'm sure they will. What kind of juice did you get?

[He watches the Pokemon being goofy with the fan, he smiles at it and reaches out to pet between her ears. She really does act like a dog. He looks at Sephiroth, reminding himself not to place his face in front of the fan, so he doesn't get sicker especially with Pheunomnia.]

So question, after I get better, what is there to do in this town?

Totally fine, lol. I've done that before.

[Lucy happily nuzzles Zack's hand.]

Well, I work at the police station. It's the closest thing they have to a military organization.

[And that was all he knew.]

There are also plenty of other occupations.... Farming, arts and crafts, entertainers....

Yummy, Apple tends to be a fave with me. [He keeps petting Lucy, then taps her on the nose playfully and keeps talking.] That sounds like my kind of work.

[And the kind he would feel at home in. Keeping law and order, being an officer of the law. It all made sense to him.]

I lived in a farming community, not interested. I want to do soldier kinda work. you know?

He chuckles softly at "Not interested." That of course reminds him of Cloud.]

I would be honored to work with you again. The police chief will want to interview you, but that's all you need to get in.

[He runs a hand down her face and wants to kiss her forehead but doesn't.] Then you'll be working with me. I just need the interview as you say. You'll have to give me a crash course, man.

[Sephiroth nods, pleased. He had always tried.

Lucy makes a cute sound like purring.]

The interview should be simple enough. Just be honest and yourself.

[Zack smiles, looking down for a moment as he stops petting Lucy. He used to have a crush on Sephiroth once upon a time, before the Nibelheim incident. He doesn't mention it now, he probably never will.] I know how to be myself. It's following new protocol I'm worried about.

[Sephiroth would be surprised. He hadn't had any idea.]

Things are fairly low-key here. There isn't nearly as much protocol to worry about as there was at Shinra.

[Zack slips out of bed suddenly and starts doing squats, his legs were starting to get achey and restless.] There's still law and order though, right?

[fairtide]

[Zack chuckled.] I just like seeing you get all red, Sephiroth. It's a cute look on you.

[That is ... a curious comment.]

Are you ... flirting with me?

[fairtide]

[It's Zack's turn to clam up.] Uh...I wouldn't say that. I was... just trying to make you blush. Sorry, Seph. Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable.

[Sephiroth looks gently amused.]

It's alright. When it's you, I don't really mind.

[Zack had always had the ability to get into his heart the way most hadn't.]

[Had he been flirting? He wouldn't be surprised if his mind was going in that direction but... he took a small breath. When it came to women, he was easily a flirt, but when it came to men? He was afraid he'd get a right hook and called a pervert. It also does well to mention his father had been against the gay community.

He knew in reality he would never bring home a man, he probably would have bringed home a woman and live out the perfect life in Gongaga once he retired from SOLDIER later in life.] Oh... I uh... More juice?

[Sephiroth might have been surprised and confused, but since he knew Zack, he would have been touched as well. He just wanted to be cared about. Romantic, platonic, familial ... any true love was what he was starved for. Although he felt more equipped to handle friendship than romance.]

Of course. You may have as much as you like.

[He pours more.]

[Zack takes a drink, then breaks down just a little.] Yeah, I might have been flirting. I had a crush on you once upon a time when I was a teenager and young adult. Just... yeah. Sorry, again. I know how you feel about romance and I'm not asking for a relationship. I was just letting you know you're a desirable big ol lug.

[Sephiroth blinks in surprise, then smiles a bit.]

I had no idea. You don't have to be sorry. I'm glad to know.

[Even if it's hard for him to comprehend, especially now, after everything he's done.]

Yeah. Believe it or not, you're ... handsome, you have a sense of humor as I learned and you're an incredible swordsman. [He wanted to say beautiful, another rule of being a man when complimenting men when you were into men; don't call them beautiful.]

Of course you didn't. I'm good at keeping my crushes a secret.

[Sephiroth has been called beautiful before, usually by adoring fangirls, but not always.]

Hm. Those are positive things about me, I'll agree.

[Is he joking or is he not? He's not typically prideful of his looks and skills, although he is certainly aware of them.

He smiles a bit, half-tempted to remark that he knew about Aerith, but not sure he should bring her up.]

Secret from everyone?

There's more to you than that. I just don't feel like waxing poetics, man. [Zack feels hot under the collar but he's not exactly blushing either. Just surprised they're having this conversation.

He's definitely not joking. He's even embarrassed right now.] Yeah, the only person I knew for certain wouldn't tell anyone was Cloud. I think I freaked him out and he thought I would hit on him. [Zack laughs.]

[Sephiroth chuckles. He is certainly surprised himself.

He knows Zack is serious, which moves him. But as to whether he himself is serious when he agrees with Zack about the positive things about him, that is a mystery.

He actually laughs a bit at the image of Cloud freaked out about that.]

Yes, I don't think Cloud would handle that well.
