A handy little open post for Milo Fields, you know, the farmer? Milo is a creature of habit and can be found in the same 4 places all the time like a goddamn Stardew Valley character so this is a catch-all for finding him in one of those places. It starts from after Dahlia's birthday gala and runs until I get tired of using it. Hooray!



-Farm Boy-

Milo is a farmer. He has been for a fair portion of his life, and a woodland homesteader for another. So of course in a weird purgatory on a haunted island, the place he's going to feel most at home is on his farm.

You can find him most days caring for his animals, exercising his horse, or tending to whatever crops are in season at the time. Come pay him a visit! Or maybe he can see what you're getting up to from his farm. He has a pretty good view and likes people watching.


-Down by the Bay-

One of Milo's favorite hobbies is fishing, so most of the time on weekends you'll find him up early, sitting on an old, unused dock on Jack's Marina, with a fishing line in the water. Want to sit and chat? Enjoy the seaside? Fish with him? You're welcome to grab a seat. In his own world he would've offered you a beer, but alas. Or maybe you're at the beach on other business.

A common chore of Milo's is chopping wood for his fireplace. He doesn't need a ton of it in the warmer months, but he usually stockpiles a little each time so that he has a ton for winter and doesn't have to go out into the snow.

If you're out in the woods, you can often find Milo with an axe, gathering logs and then chopping them with his burly arm and a half. Are you exploring? Come say hello. Are you in trouble? Milo will barrel to your aid like a big dummy.


-Oak & Iron-

Milo also hangs out in the tavern a lot because he likes beer and hot food and card games. Feel free to get drunk with the himbo and enjoy some Midwestern hospitality. Anyone up for Poker? Or maybe Milo can teach you how to play Spit.

"...wh--no! No, nothing like that. It wasn't...no. It's..."

Angel is physically incapable of blushing. But he sure can cringe.

"Don't get that idea about him, he's not...he doesn't...we're not like that. Okay?"

[pinandcove]

"Oh, fuck, sorry, my bad." Milo recedes a bit, embarrassed. "There's just not usually that many reasons for, uh. Sleepovers. So I thought that's what you were implying. ...What are you like, then?"

[graveling]

"I don't know. He fell asleep on me. He was warm. And then he sort of freaked out a bit after waking up." Angel gives Milo a helpless, confused look. Why are humans so fucking weird?

"I've never...back in my world, I'm a wandering hermit. No friends, no home, nothing. I don't know what I'm doing."

[pinandcove]

Milo holds up his hands defensively. "Hey man, that's cool. Sometimes a cuddle buddy is all you need. And if you were a wandering hermit before now, it sounds like you probably needed it. I was a nomad too, I know how it is."

[graveling]

"Cuddle...buddy?" This is a new turn of phrase, but it draws a hint of smile out of Angel. "Yeah. Never...never had anyone. Definitely needed. Um, something. More than...no one."

He scrapes his hair back from his face with a hand sheepishly. "Why were you wandering?"

[pinandcove]

"Hm? Oh, for fun, mostly. And business." He shrugs. "I was in the antique furniture trade and I lived out of a camper trailer. I went all over buying cool pieces and flipping them. Dressers, wardrobes, and armoires mostly. You?"

[graveling]

“Oh, because I’m a freak of nature, shunned by man and beast.” Mostly self-mocking, but there’s more truth hidden in there than lies. Angel shrugs, glancing over his shoulder in the direction of Eddie’s farm. “Or. Something.”

[pinandcove]

"You don't seem too shunned to me, at least not here. I think you're cool, anyways." He shrugs easily. "Apparently Eddie does too."

[graveling]

“Cool? I…huh. I don’t know how to be cool. But he’s. He’s good. He’s nice to me even though he doesn’t need to be. Even though I don’t need him to be.”

Angel sounds like he’s almost confused by it all.

[pinandcove]

"I mean... That is kinda how it should be, yeah? People being nice to each other just because? It makes the world a better place." Milo shrugs and smiles easily. Head empty, heart full. "Eddie's been pretty cool to me, too. He seems... stressed. But he's a good dude. I'm glad you guys got somethin' good."

[graveling]

"Even if I still don't actually know what it is we've got?"

Look, this corpse can fit so much anxiety in him. Like he's not doing it right, like he's sure everyone else got a manual on how to be a person and he's the only one that missed out.

[pinandcove]

"Eh. Labels aren't everything. But if you want one, uhh... Hmm." He looks off in the distance to think. "I know there's a word for like, uh. Something in between friends and romantic, that's kinda both and neither, but I can't remember. I just know stuff from friends telling me."

[graveling]

"It's not the label exactly, it's... the everything else. Shit, I'm not even sure I know what romance is. Before I got here, I never had friends. It's all new territory, everything is. Just like the party was. All first times for me and no one gave me an instruction manual or lessons on how to try to be a someone."

Frustration leaks into his tone of voice.

[pinandcove]

"I'm sorry, man, I sympathize. Honestly though? No one really has that. I mean--- most times folks got their parents and stuff, but anything anyone else says is just an opinion. But life is all about that journey, you know? Self-discovery. That's the beauty of it." He shrugs. "At least that's how I see it. The most important things are to do as little harm as possible, and to do what makes you happy.That's my two cents. If Eddie makes you happy, keep spending time with him till it doesn't."
