Event Annex - The Senate Room

CRY HAVOC, AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR.
W

elcome, esteemed guests, to the Senate Room.

The rules of the game are simple. You have a word over your head that you cannot see, and the same word written on a piece of paper in an envelope that also contains a key. There is a door out of this room. Each key opens the door for only one person. You can see the words above others' heads, but you cannot say them, nor can you say any direct synonyms that might give it away too easily, nor can you spell the word or its synonyms. You must find other ways to describe it to allow the other person to guess. More abstract. Get creative with it.

If you believe you know the word, speak it aloud and open your envelope to retrieve your key. If you are correct, you can leave without incident. If you are wrong, your organs will immediately fail and you will die.

Here are the words each participant has been assigned. Players can use them to refer to other players' characters to help them guess, and you can use them to check your answers when you guess, but you can also OOCly know your answer provided you don't use it to ICly cheat. Good luck.

"It's worth it to try." Dahlia's conviction comes immediately, and for good reason. "There's succession laws that could really cause problems for us if Aster gets into power. Demons are traitors, and not just in the Court of Treason. Power hungry backstabbers are a matter of course. So Infernal Law has a few failsafes. The main one we'd have to worry about is what's called the Succession Redundancy Period, which basically means that any time a major position of power is passed to a new person, they aren't permitted to abdicate for a year, and no one can attempt to usurp power from them through death, duel, or sabotage during that time, or everyone in line to inherit and everyone in that specific court is stripped of rank. Even if I did forfeit my own title just to get rid of him, it'd create a new power struggle between lesser courts trying to squabble over a piece of the pie, and no one would have the authority to end the contract with Nyarlathotep until it's resolved. We'd just be starting from square one."

Meeting CT's eyes firmly, carefully, Dahlia provides a succinct summary to what she'd been implying: "If we let Aster take power now, we're stuck with him for a full calendar year."

"...of fucking course," CT groans, dragging her hands over her face. Nothing about this can ever be simple. "Well... then I guess we get out of here and see if it's even possible to make it that far through whatever's outside the doors. And if none of us make it..."

Then: shit, she guesses.

"We'll make it," Dahlia says firmly. "When you figure out your word, come find me."

She sure hopes it's when, the lack of the Eye is a frustration right now. But— no, she's smart, and she knows the kinds of thing someone like Eligos might consider her issues. Probably. "I'll do my damnedest."
