Event Annex - The Senate Room

elcome, esteemed guests, to the Senate Room.

The rules of the game are simple. You have a word over your head that you cannot see, and the same word written on a piece of paper in an envelope that also contains a key. There is a door out of this room. Each key opens the door for only one person. You can see the words above others' heads, but you cannot say them, nor can you say any direct synonyms that might give it away too easily, nor can you spell the word or its synonyms. You must find other ways to describe it to allow the other person to guess. More abstract. Get creative with it.

If you believe you know the word, speak it aloud and open your envelope to retrieve your key. If you are correct, you can leave without incident. If you are wrong, your organs will immediately fail and you will die.

Here are the words each participant has been assigned. Players can use them to refer to other players' characters to help them guess, and you can use them to check your answers when you guess, but you can also OOCly know your answer provided you don't use it to ICly cheat. Good luck.

Shen Qingqiu's eyes light up. He opens his mouth -- and closes it again, grimacing. "Apparently I'm not allowed to confirm or deny if you got it right," he grumbles. "But rudeness does seem to be the point of this game, I have to give you that."

"It really does! Putting impolite words in other people's mouths, where nobody wanted them to be," he agrees, with a shake of his head that's all dismayed with how the world is these days.

It's easier to make a joke of it, than think about the way some people are already running ahead with ideas of how one might circumvent the rules of the game to win at others' expenses. Just thought experiments, he hopes, but... maybe just thought experiences for now. Better to nip that sort of thing in the bud and help everyone get their words down before they get creative about avoiding it.

"But if that does seem to be mine... Then, I'm free to help you with yours. Which... it's definitely a fancier word than 'inefficient'," he says, cautious to start, but at least pleased with himself that it works for both the word and its meaning. An efficient hint!

Yes, some of the conversations happening around them are definitely concerning, to say the least. Best to get their own words taken care of as quickly as they can, so they can help others with theirs.

If only they didn't have to be so circular about it! "A fancier word than 'inefficient,'" Shen Qingqiu repeats, bemused. "There are many different ways to be inefficient. Would you say this word speaks to a certain lack of industry? Or maybe a tendency towards unnecessary flourishes?" Either could technically describe him, he must admit.

"Hmmm... Maybe some of both, but... Mostly the flourishes!" Papyrus decides after a couple seconds of mulling it over. "It's much more about being fancy, and... noticeably being fancy. Maybe, putting on a show about it?"

Which, he thinks, could maybe sound like Mettaton. But there's a difference to it that he's not quite thinking of how to word.

"And once again we find ourselves in thesaurus territory," Shen Qingqiu sighs. "Well, there's gaudy, theatrical, ostentatious...surely not flamboyant? My mannerisms are extremely masculine in my culture!"

"......Congratulations?" Papyrus guesses, at a loss even after several more seconds of thinking it over. "Or, uh, commiserations?"

It's clear that this must be important to this extremely culturally masculine person, and he doesn't want to rain on that parade! He hopes he's covered his bases on well-wishes on the matter, because it seems to be a sore point.

"But!! Some of those were getting warmer. You're not just in the ballpark's stands, you're up to bat. And, one of them, you could do a poetry with! With your word, I mean."
