Event Annex - The Senate Room

CRY HAVOC, AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR.
W

elcome, esteemed guests, to the Senate Room.

The rules of the game are simple. You have a word over your head that you cannot see, and the same word written on a piece of paper in an envelope that also contains a key. There is a door out of this room. Each key opens the door for only one person. You can see the words above others' heads, but you cannot say them, nor can you say any direct synonyms that might give it away too easily, nor can you spell the word or its synonyms. You must find other ways to describe it to allow the other person to guess. More abstract. Get creative with it.

If you believe you know the word, speak it aloud and open your envelope to retrieve your key. If you are correct, you can leave without incident. If you are wrong, your organs will immediately fail and you will die.

Here are the words each participant has been assigned. Players can use them to refer to other players' characters to help them guess, and you can use them to check your answers when you guess, but you can also OOCly know your answer provided you don't use it to ICly cheat. Good luck.

"Oh, I've said nothing at all about whether the word is true or not. And I don't intend to. Would you care for a hint about yours, nasty gossipy thing that it is?"

That strikes a nerve, apparent by the way Sasavachi breaks eye contact. There's a wide berth of words he could imagine -- and he's of the opinion that it would not be a demon's game were there not a grain of truth buried in them. Such creatures are capable of plucking such things from mortals.

"I don't care to know," he lies. "What I want to know is how to leave. 'Tis only natural to be curious about the first 'winner' of this game."

"Well, by the rules we've been given, how to leave appears to be bound up in guessing the word. If you want to look into other means of departing ... I suppose one could try to break down the door? Or hunt for secret passages?"

He won't lie. Forcing open the door is tempting.

"Or perhaps you could open the door for us, given your key."

"I could certainly try. The rules seem to say that won't work, but -- shall we give it a go? And see what happens?"

His tone is just a little too flippant for the situation.

Sasavachi can hear that tone. He doesn't like it one bit. It reminds him of Xau, in his worse moments. But what is Sasavachi to do? He nods and gestures towards their sole exit.

"There's nothing else we can do. We may as well try."

"By all means."

He rises smoothly from his chair, and starts in the direction of the door at a pace somewhere between an amble and a saunter.

Sasavachi walks with brisk, focused steps. He's eager to leave this room, regardless of what may be beyond the door, because anything is better than being locked here with strangers.

The door looms before them -- more over Sasavachi, than the horned man. He looks over his shoulder. Here they are. Time to give it a shot?
