Event Annex - The Senate Room

CRY HAVOC, AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR.
W

elcome, esteemed guests, to the Senate Room.

The rules of the game are simple. You have a word over your head that you cannot see, and the same word written on a piece of paper in an envelope that also contains a key. There is a door out of this room. Each key opens the door for only one person. You can see the words above others' heads, but you cannot say them, nor can you say any direct synonyms that might give it away too easily, nor can you spell the word or its synonyms. You must find other ways to describe it to allow the other person to guess. More abstract. Get creative with it.

If you believe you know the word, speak it aloud and open your envelope to retrieve your key. If you are correct, you can leave without incident. If you are wrong, your organs will immediately fail and you will die.

Here are the words each participant has been assigned. Players can use them to refer to other players' characters to help them guess, and you can use them to check your answers when you guess, but you can also OOCly know your answer provided you don't use it to ICly cheat. Good luck.

...there's no way the word 'bitch' is over her head, not with how much fancier sounding everyone else's are, so she doesn't say that, but she won't say it doesn't cross her mind.

"It was laundry day. And I only ever sleep in this," she grumbles first, like she needs to defend herself, then sighs and presses her clasped fingers against her mouth, thinking. "So— something about rudeness?"

"No ... rude would be mocking you for the shirt in general. This would be ... after you asked us not to look at the shirt, and it was clear that it would be kinder not to, if instead I called further attention to it."

She groans, dragging her hands over her face. "Had to end up in a life or death situation that depends on vocab. I was not good enough in English class for this."

Sure, she can feel the shape of the quality being described, but that doesn't mean shit if she can't nail the word itself. Hell of a reason to risk dying for real, this time.

"It's all right," she says, keeping her voice and gaze steady, "we have time. Can you think of words that mean the same thing as being kind? Especially ... choosing to make things easier for someone in difficulty. When you could make things harder but you don't."

Daisy drags her tongue over her teeth. Tastes iron. Still looks rather grumpy about this whole thing, but that might be her thinking face. "...helpful? Merciful?"

Cassandra -- can't say anything, but on the last word widens her eyes and straightens up sharply.

"...yeah. Okay." Daisy exhales, rubs the bridge of her nose. "That makes sense."

She's at least ninety-percent sure, now, but despite a glance at her envelope she doesn't immediately risk opening it. Just taps it against her palm and glances around the room at Jon and Dahlia, hesitant to immediately leave them behind. Dahlia will probably be fine, whatever plan Eligos has includes her, but Jon's... Jon.

She subsides, nodding, seeing the understanding in Daisy's reaction.

"If you want to offer me a hint as to mine," she says, "I'd appreciate it."

Daisy looks up at it again and makes a vague noise, huffs. "...well. You could've called me the same thing back on the ship. For what that's worth. But uh."

Her claws drum against the paper. "...thinking the worst of people or a situation?"

Cassandra frowns in thought.

"Misanthropic," she suggests, though not as if she thinks it's the right answer. "Pessimistic? -- I wonder if it will let you tell me if the word's shorter or longer."

Daisy tries without hesitation: "Shorter. More straightforward."

"Cynical. -- That's it, isn't it."

No question mark this time; (on a natural 20 INT roll) she knows.

Daisy can't confirm or deny outright, but she pointedly doesn't continue giving her hints and just sits back in her seat, own envelope in hand.
