WELCOME POTLUCK

Greetings, residents! Those more observant sorts among you may have noticed a large influx of very crowded ferries. In order to welcome our new residents en masse, Town Hall is holding a potluck in Town Square. Please bring a dish if you are able and make a new friend!

All of our newest arrivals need only bring themselves. We look forward to welcoming you all into our community, and may your lanterns always be lit.

This event is open to all! In light of our new influx of prospective players following the Great Sail Migration, we've decided to offer a small public event to tide everyone over until the TDM this weekend.

"Excuse me?" A tall elven woman, with long teal hair, a blindfold on her face and -- for some strange reason -- ram horns appears at César's elbow. "Are you Mister Salazar? Eddie sent me your way." Ellarinne smiles eagerly. "I'm told you like to cook with peppers."

You know who else likes peppers, César?

This girl!!!

As soon as she gets her hands on some good fatty pork she's introducing you all to spicy bacon and then it's all over for all of you. Or maybe a nice spiced rib roast...it literally makes you breathe fire for the next hour!

"I do!" César nods repeatedly, smiling wide in turn. "And it is utterly Eddie's fault that I can. Need to start cultivating more peppers, so it'll be a while before I can go all out... but I've got a good start."

OH SPICY PORK. Yes, spicy bacon will be his love. He has always loved chorizo...

"Oh, that's wonderful!" Overcome with enthusiasm, Ellarinne is bouncing a little in her excitement. The tips of her ears bob in mid-air. "Only a few cultures on my homeworld like peppers, so when I have to go traveling somewhere I usually have to go without. And I've mostly been eating savory fish soups for the past year, so as you might imagine I'm ready for a change!" She laughs, glancing down at the table -- despite the blindfold, her body language is that of a sighted person, and she immediately seems to spot the Spicy sign. "Oh, are those dumplings of some kind? May I try them?"

"Going without until now was a complete struggle; I get you." Even back home, César allowed himself to add spicy sauces when he was trying to appear as more Americanized. "That's absolutely too much savory fish soup. They're something like dumplings, yes. Corn based dough spread thin and wrapped around cheese with peppers, then fried."

Ellarinne's mouth drops open; for a moment, and despite the fact that her eyes are covered, she seems to stare off into the distance, contemplating the infinite.

"Cheese with peppers," she murmurs. "By Elune, why didn't any of us think that? Now I really need to try this!"

The spicy peneque is a huge success. Ellarinne's ears stiffen up, green patches begin to glow behind her blindfold, and she hums in sheer happiness. "Delicious! Oh, I hope I can persuade you to share the recipe. In Dalaran they mostly use peppers as additional flavoring for meat. This is completely different!"

Wow, spicy foods are sure a hit here!

"Peppers and cheese are a match made for the soul," César agrees, his grin resonating in his voice. I'd be happy to share the recipe. If you've ever had chocolate, pepper can pair really well to bring out the flavor when done right."

Everyone here has Protagonist Energy, César! Of course they like spicy foods!

"Mm! I'm trying to imagine it right now, and it sounds amazing. Do they have chocolate here?" Maybe once she's saved up some, she can try experimenting...oh, she so loves trying new things.

"I never introduced myself, did I?" she realizes out loud. "Forgive me. My name is Ellarinne, of the planet Azeroth. Adventurer and enthusiastic amateur chef." She offers him her hand, grinning a slightly sheepish way (that, just incidentally, happens to reveal some surprisingly sharp teeth.)

This would explain a lot if he realized this, actually.

"We have chocolate, thankfully! But I'll have to learn how to... make something like that. Wow, huh." César's marveling at how domestic this exchange is for a moment before he realizes she's correct; they haven't introduced themselves, and César takes her hand to shake right back. "César Salazar! I forgot myself."

Huh, teeth. He's seen a lot of teeth before. He had noted the glowing behind her blindfold and the ears, too, but... César's world has some awfully strange things, so he can't blink too much at it.

"I could teach you! I learned how to make chocolate some time ago, it's really quite easy." She smiles at him happily, relieved to have made a connection with someone so soon. (She also looks quite strange by her own world's standards, you see; and many Azerothians are not as accepting as César.)

"I'm still sorting out my living and employment situation, but...once I'm settled, I hope we'll meet again, César." She's careful to imitate the way he pronounced his own name precisely, even though the accent is unfamiliar to her. "I would love to learn all about your way of cooking."

César's seen strange back home. People are people. That's all he needs to know.

"I'd love to learn how to make chocolate! My girlfriend—Magne Hikiishi—likely would, too." He's entirely charmed that she got his name right. "And I'll be happy to teach you in turn when you're settled, Ellarinne."

"There are few better joys in life than sharing your cooking with someone you love. Except perhaps cooking together." Ellarinne's smile widens, for once an entirely joyful grin despite the off-putting appearance of her blindfold and teeth. "I'd be happy to meet your girlfriend as well. It's settled then!" She claps her hands together. "As soon as my home's fit for guests, I'll send word. And as a bonus, this will give more incentive to get my act together. Thank you, César."

"You're right on both accounts." César truly loves cooking with Magne (and her); his smile grows in turn, not turned off by the blindfold or teeth, and he gives a laugh as she claps her hands together. "You're welcome! I look forward to hearing from you by sending stone."
