Elsie Open Post | NPC OTA
Who: Elsie & YOU
What: An open post for any and all to come get more CR with Elsie
When: Early May
Where: Stated in the prompts, but can also be anywhere that makes sense
Warnings: None yet - Will warn where necessary
Pranked Good!
The fae have been having a prank war around here and, while Elsie isn't officially affiliated with any of the other players, she can't help but feel drawn to the fun. Her human side, at least, guides her to pranks that fall closer to harmless than harmful--but she has been known to drag a person into her shadow realm without much warning.
The sensation of becoming one with shadow is like missing a step on the stairs and suddenly finding themselves in a pitch black hole looking out at the world. It doesn't hurt, but it might be a disorienting few seconds until it becomes apparent that Elsie is in the dark with too, holding their hand. Somehow they can tell she's not going to harm them. It might be the magical warmth radiating off of her, the kind that feels like a hug from a friend in hard times.
"Got you!" she says with a giggle. "Pranked good!"
Lost & Found
Another aspect of the prank war is the theft of objects. Elsie knows that stealing is wrong but borrowing is okay, so she's "borrowing" random items from around the town and leaving little treasure maps for people to use to try and locate them. Who doesn't love a good scavenger hunt?
She is easily located at her tree for anyone who actually doesn't love them and would like to take it up with her personally. She might be persuaded to help search. (Even if she wasn't the one who took the thing, she can still be convinced to help find what was taken.)
Dance Until You Drop
If one happens to be unfortunate enough to get caught in a fairy dance circle, Elsie might be their best and only hope of getting out of it unscathed. These woods are hers, and she considers herself its guardian. The people of Pumpkin Hollow, especially the newest arrivals, fall under that purview when they venture into the embrace of her trees.
As their limbs grow weaker from exhaustion, their mouth parched, and it's beginning to seem like their chances of survival have slipped away, Elsie appears, joining the dance to edge her way closer. When she touches them, they feel invigorated once more. She leans close to whisper, "Elsie help?"
If they want to dance themselves into oblivion she won't stop them, but she's here to offer a way out for those who'd like to avoid a painful death and 24 hours as a ghost.
Mending Is Hard
Elsie sits on a stump beneath her tree cradling a beautiful butterfly gown made of gossamer tulle and silky satin to her chest. It's one of her most prized possessions--and now the skirt has a hole in it.
Usually, she wouldn't be so concerned over a tear in her clothing; she's rough on all her rompers after all. But this one is special. This one was a gift from her father. She should have been careful. She should have known better. Now tears blot out her vision as she touches the frayed edges. She doesn't know how to fix it. Likely it will never go back to being perfect, no matter what she tries. It's all her fault for not being a Real Lady. One of those would know what to do.
Bee Jamboree
Spring brings flowers, and flowers bring pollinators; that's what makes this Elsie's favorite time of year. Bees are her special favorite. They're more social than the ants.
So, don't be alarmed if you hear buzzing in the trees. Come closer to see Elsie performing a very strange wiggling dance for them. The bees are all gathered around, watching and joining in. They don't seem very aggressive right now. Elsie certainly isn't wearing any kind of protection and she's just fine. Who is brave enough to join the dance?
Wildcard
If none of those above prompts are doing it for you, feel free to invent another location to run into Elsie, or ask me for a custom starter. Those a genuinely easier for me sometimes than writing blanket opens so please don't hesitate. <3

"Can bring others. Give hand." The moment Sorceress does, she'll sink into the dark right alongside Elsie. It doesn't hurt, but there's a sudden jolt like missing a step on the way down stairs.
Once that settles, the space she'll find herself in is so dark she can't see anything but the shine of Elsie's eyes. Regardless, she will still have all her senses, and an intact sense of herself. If she wiggles a toe, she feels it move even if she can't see it.
"Careful. Don't let go." They need to stay connected for the magic to work.
no subject
Sorceress blinks before accepting the hand and letting out a slight yelp as she sinks into the shadow. "Oh!"
She certainly won't be letting go, that's for damn sure. The necromancer looks around despite not being able to see anything besides Elsie's eyes. "Goodness, this is... a bizarre sensation... Like being in water but... also not at the same time." She tries to find the girl's eyes again. "Are you able to pop up anywhere there's a shadow or only in the spot you entered...?"

"Alright. Show me!"
no subject
The world above is visible through the hole like a window, but even with the light traveling in, nothing but Elsie's eyes is visible in this place. She can feel her body, know it's there, but like this, she can't see it.
"Is safe," Elsie reiterates. "Where go?"
no subject
"Oh... Ah..." Sorceress blinks. "I'm still not very familiar with this island... Perhaps... show me one of your favorite places?"

Overhead, through the window back into reality, Sorceress will be able to see the scenery whizzing past. From within the shadow there is a distinct feeling of movement, steady like being on the rails of a train track. They are, in reality, going much faster than any train could travel. The scenery begins to grow greener and more thick with vegetation as they enter the forest. They don't go very far in before Elsie brings them to an abrupt stop just below the branches of a large old oak tree. There's a hollow at the center of it, and many shining baubles and trinkets are hung from every bough. It's like something out of a fairytale.
"Welcome," Elsie says as she lifts them both back up from the void to stand on solid ground once more. "This is Elsie's home." More than that, this tree is where her mother's soul lies sleeping under a magic spell of protection. It's the most sacred place there can be to Elsie, and she wants to share it with Sorceress.

Sorceress does her best to keep herself steady as they travel across the island at far faster a speed than she's ever experienced. That might not be something she'll ever get used to but it's certainly a good way to travel!
When they arrive, it takes her a moment to readjust, however upon seeing the sight before them, she quickly recovers and smiles.
"Oh, it's beautiful..." Even the energy about the place. It feels warm, welcoming. She carefully (and respectfully) looks at all of the various decorations with a smile. "I think... when I've got a bit more income... I'd like to give Mother Tree a gift as well. Would that be alright with you, Elsie?"

"You're very welcome." She takes a moment to look at the area around them, then turns back to Elsie. "How far is this from town, if I may ask?"
no subject
"It is... long walk but short run? Mmmm. Elsie can show?" She's offering to walk Sorceress back, essentially, to see for herself. It would take most people about thirty minutes to reach the center of town.
a good place to wrap up for this thread?
"Only if it isn't troublesome for you. You can point in the direction if you'd prefer and I'll find my way," she smiles and nods thoughtfully.
yes! :) wrap~
