"Maybe I'm being too forward, but— I think about you when we aren't together. I've got my place, but it's big and cold and not right. What would you think if maybe— maybe we lived together. Do all that on our terms."

He laughs. Light and unsure at first, then spilling into something warmer; sun caught in his whaling chest. "No, no— there'll be plenty of time for running around once you're better. I'll haul whatever furniture you wanna keep, too. My place is a little, ah, bare-bones."

"Really?" Surprise flickers across his face. Stupid, maybe, to feel surprise when for months they sat dutifully in each other's company. Practically lived in the infirmary together. Assumption now that she might want a break from this, to exist in her own space; see him at her own discretion. A question, one that needles him often; was that all too much? Anyone would have been overwhelmed. Would have liked a break.
"I'm glad I asked then. It'll be nice. I'll make us breakfasts. Or we can cook together, if you have something specific in mind. Daisuke— oh, he's more than welcome to come. I'll haul his stuff, too. Might be nice for him, being around familiar company. To be honest, I'd like the opportunity to make things up to him if I can."
