Invitation and venue
A flier goes up on the community noticeboard a week in advance, advertising an adults only party for George's birthday, with more specifics to be found at VAS. The specifics being that it's a kink play party. An opportunity meet and play with like minded individuals in a semi-public environment.

On the night, there's various toys and furniture for use placed in key spots, with cleaning supplies nearby. A variety of snacks both sweet and savoury are laid out on tables by couches, and one room has been designated the 'quiet room' and has lots of cushions and soft blankets in it.

Welcome
George greets most people as they arrive, with another of VAS's staff taking over if he's otherwise occupied. He'll take newcomers on a brief tour of the space, pointing out anything of note and giving a rundown of the rules: Be respectful, use safewords, clean up after yourselves, and any questions or concerns should be brought to George himself or another member of staff, each of which is pointed out.

Once the tour is concluded, he smiles warmly adding, "And of course, please enjoy yourself. Do you have any questions?"

Birthday Beatings

(impact play and masochism)

This is the main event for George, and a tradition he's held for a good five years or so. An excuse to test his endurance and enjoy the bite of pain with each strike to his stone skin.

Typically, the arrangement is one strike per year of age, but only two people on the island actually know how old George is and he intends to keep it that way, so instead the rules are simply: Each person can hit him a maximum of 20 times, and it will continue until either everyone who wants to has had a turn or George taps out, with short breaks as necessary.

Those who were personally invited get priority, and after that anyone is welcome to have a go at him. There's a choice of implements available for use, or someone can use their own if they'd prefer, or even go without simply use their hands (though George doesn't recommend this, and the closest to an explanation he'll give is that he has "surprisingly hard skin"), and he's willing to be repositioned as desired.

(Note: this can be threaded or handwaved as desired. I'm open to both playing out the scene itself and the breaks and aftercare. If you want to handwave that a character took a turn without playing anything surrounding it, just let me know so I can keep track.)

Siebren lightly nuzzles into George's hair. "Thank you. It took a little to dial in with the paddle. I take it practicing so I'm more confident with the physics of it for your next birthday might appeal to you?"

"Absolutely," George starts, but whatever else he was going to say disappears as the words next birthday truly sink in. Until this relationship, he'd been holding himself back from truly making a life here, always hoping that he'd return home sooner rather than later. Now he wants... He doesn't know what he wants. He wants Siebren, and he wants to go back to London. He can't have both.

Does it really matter anyway? 30 years, 94, 8, how long will he get this time, before he's pulled away by some other power to somewhere new and unfamiliar?

George takes a shaky breath and goes almost completely still, bar for the tapping of his finger.

Siebren hears that tapping, and lets the humor drain out of his voice.

"What did I say wrong, George?"

"Nothing." That assurance is quick, because wherever George's head is at it's not Siebren's fault. He takes another long breath, collecting thoughts as best he can before he continues, "This is the third time I've had to rebuild my life from scratch. I get comfortable, I find a reason I want to stay and then... I don't know if I'll still be here next year."

[spaghettification]

"Oh, mijn edelsteen, you're borrowing grief from the future. We don't know yet, and can't know yet and I refuse to let that fact prevent me from planning a future that delights me. Especially not tonight."

"Perhaps I am, but it is the season for it." And isn't that another source of grief in and of itself?

No, he doesn't need to pick open that wound again. Not right now.

George takes the time to turn Siebren's words properly over in his mind, and then he recognises exactly what this is
"I haven't dropped in a long time," he says with a slight sigh, "Can you get me some more water, please? And something sweet"

"Of course." He slides out from behind George and goes to the snack table, coming back with some grapes, a small cup of pudding (at least one of the other ones on the table had been eaten off someone's body) and the requested water. "I could hand-feed you, if you want."

"Maybe another time." George gives a slight smile "Thank you."

A sip of water, and he starts picking at the grapes and pudding. Slowly putting himself back together with each bite.

"What does edelsteen mean?"

"'Gemstone'. It means gemstone. It seemed fitting, given..." He trails off with a broad gender at all of George.

[stonecoldtop]

"Marble isn't a gemstone." It's a minor quibble and delivered with deadpan sincerity, but he smiles a little wider after, "I like it."

"It's become quite precious to me, marble is." Siebren settles back down beside George, stealing just one of the grapes.

George can't actually blush, but the steadfast control he has over the Mask means that he can bring colour to his cheeks anyway if wants to. So he does. Just a little

"You're just as precious to me. There are very few people I would trust to see me like this." Anyone else and he would have buggered off to his office upstairs to deal with it on his own once he started feeling miserable.

"Well. I think it's a state I need to know how to handle, if John and I are going to be experimenting in the territory of dominance play more often. But beside that, I'd rather you not have to deal with it alone."

Of course, top drop due to his work, Siebren won't always be available to assist with.

George hums in agreement, leaning into Siebren again. He's not going to respond specifically to whether he should have to deal with it on his own or not, because he knows whatever he says won't help anyone, least of all himself.

Instead George focuses on the part that makes him light up a bit, "I saw the two of you playing earlier."

The opportunity to play voyeur was not insignificant among the reasons to hold this party. Of course he's been keeping a particular eye on Siebren's comings and goings.

"I wish I still had my library, there isn't quite the same wealth of knowledge here when it comes to the practice of BDSM."

"Playing with him is interesting. He seems to sink down so easily, into that state where you can play with him, like a toy. I...struggle to find myself enjoying those moments completely because half my attention is on being sure I treat him right when he's like that. That I don't go too far and cause him harm."

It's something he's still getting used to, and it gives him even more appreciation for how hard George's work is.

"It can be difficult to manage, there's a lot of responsibility that comes with having control of a scene. I'd recommend talking to him about it thoroughly before you play again. If you don't mind losing some of the spontaneity, having a very detailed plan of what's going to happen in a scene laid out before you start can help you know that you're on the right track, and not going to do anything he wouldn't agree to. So you can hopefully relax into it more.

Otherwise, find out if there's a way to keep him lucid throughout a scene. At least while you're both still exploring everything, he can go back to losing himself in it if you both want that once there's a good mutual understanding of where the limits are and what you both enjoy."

"That makes sense. I think in private, I may be able to hold his focus better. Here, floating was easier than remaining aware of the circumstance. He's very self-conscious, John is."

And it had been a rather intense scene to start with.

"He is rather." George laughs lightly, "I'm not surprised by it though, there's broadly two reactions I've noticed to someone's first play party. Either they go all in and come out of it having participated in multiple scenes and with plans for further exploration. Or they discover just how high they can pull their shell up around themselves, and only play if a partner or extremely close friend pulls them into it."

George smiles, eyes finding John in the crowd for a moment before his attention turns back to Siebren

"He'll get more confident with time, I think. Until then, as you said, private play might be the better choice."

Siebren looks thoughtful, because somehow his mind got caught on the word 'first'. "Do you plan to hold more parties like this in the future?"

There's that stillness and tap tap tap back. At least it's not as bad this time, and after a moment George takes a deep breath and pushes through it.

"I might. It's a lot of work behind the scenes, and there's other things that should be done to support if it there's going to be regular parties. Munches at the very least, preferably classes and other learning opportunities as well. I can't create a kink scene from nothing on my own, but... When the snow melts and Spring rises, we'll see."

"I may not be able to help with the education, but I'd be glad to help with organizing and outreach. You definitely don't need to do it all on your own, George." That has the ring of a promise without being shaped like one.

It feels like a commitment, like putting that work in will mean never going back.

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind," George says, and it feels like a promise too. The choice just that little bit easier to make with Siebren beside him so willing to help.

"Perhaps we'll see sooner than spring, but... winter is not a good season for me any more, I'm discovering."

"Cruel that your birthday's in a season that makes you suffer so. After the party, at some point, let's talk more in depth. See if there's anything to make it easier."

This is one of those millions of ways to say "I love you" without saying "I love you."

"I'd like that," George says, feeling a little lighter already. Siebren's good at having that effect on him. "I'd like that a lot. Thank you."
