1. There's a piece of me that knows his name [The Oak and Iron]
There is a new face in town. Perhaps you might recognize him from your time in the Black Stag Casino. Perhaps you just have an eye for newcomers. Either way, here he is, sitting at a table alone with a meal he's barely touched, watching everything going on around him with the haunted eyes of a prisoner.


2. Every once in a while, he'll show his face [Out and About Town]
It has been decades since Jack has been allowed outside. While he's not literally kissing the grass in gratitude, he is lying on his ground, under a tree, staring up at the branches blankly with not a moment's care for how dirty his clothes (his casino dealer uniform) might be getting. Or for the fact that it is starting to rain.

That response doesn't sound the least bit fine. "You seem ... troubled," Sephiroth replies. "Is there anything I might be able to help you with?"

[lahire]

"I do not know. I am very new to all of this. I cannot begin to define what help would look like."

Jack frowns. "I have not had so much free time in...a very long time. Years. Perhaps decades. Or more."

[imjustaman]

"I see. That would be jarring." Sephiroth ponders, not sure how much to pry. As the commander of Shinra's army, he'd had to know about what was troubling his soldiers and had invited them to talk with him. But this is certainly not a situation like that and this man doesn't know him from Adam.

He tries to think what might be helpful. "Do you know where everything is in town? I am new as well, but I've been learning about that."

[lahire]

"I have not yet learned where everything is. That may take some time. And motivation. For now, being here is enough. There is food, there is a bed."

He nods slightly.

"I do not need for more than that."

[imjustaman]

Sephiroth nods. "Those are important things. It's pleasant here." He has only just moved out, having finally decided to join the Enforcers, but he liked it here for the most part. "I'm still exploring the town as well. There is more to see than I had initially thought."

“What is it that someone should see, then? Tell me what you’ve learned, so far.” His curiosity is a very slow uncertain thing.

[imjustaman]

"Well, I don't know that I would say there's anything someone should see, especially. I've never been a tourist and don't know what kinds of sites people might enjoy." He looks a bit awkward at that. "And I unfortunately haven't learned much about the curse aside from what I assume is public knowledge. But I can tell you it would be wise to stay away from the woods as much as possible. There are many kinds of dangerous monsters that inhabit them and attack anyone foolish enough to wander into their domain."

[lahire]

“I had not had the intention of straying into the woods, no.” Jack seems bemused by the very idea.

"Good," Sephiroth smirks. "They also say not to go out after dark if you don't have to. Apparently sometimes some of the monsters come into town." He's doing his best to make sure that doesn't happen, but he doesn't arrogantly think he will completely succeed.
