[OPEN, Mingle] Yamsgiving

Who: Cecil and EVERYONE
What: Another Harvest Celebration
When: Beginning of Pumpkinfest
Where: Center of town
Warning(s): Discussion of the Gala and its attendant CWs may come up

1. Yes, we're happy as fish [Food Prep, Oak and Iron kitchen]
Cecil's made a point of seeking out the best known chefs in town to help him put everything together for this meal. While sweet potato dishes are the star, at least one available with every course, he's hoping to hit a broad variety so everyone can find something they like. He, of course, is peeling and chopping his eternal sweet potato to make sure there's enough to go around.

(Of course you don't need to worry about him with a knife! He's fine! Don't you know he was once a boy scout?)

If someone needs an extra hand for their dishes, though, he's happy to lend one. There's an attitude of camaraderie and cheer in the room, with Cecil even breaking out singing at one or two points in the evening.

2. And gorgeous as geese [The Meal; Festival Green]
Everyone's invited to the feast. That is, in fact, the whole point. Cecil's always been pointedly neutral in the town's tensions, working as the most unbiased media monkey he can. He's the Voice of Pumpkin Hollow, and that means not taking sides between Dahlia and Neil and the Temple and whoever else. But after the gala, he's made a choice to act, to try to foster goodwill and warm feelings. This isn't the stone stew he offered during January's famine, this is a Redwall-style feast.

So, between glasses of mead from Kasprak Farm and dandelion wine, everyone is invited to fill their plate with candied yams and zucchini bread, roast chicken and venison donated by one of the Enforcers. There's a homemade cranberry sauce with citrus wedges and dandelion-leaf salad with an apple cider vinaigrette and toasted acorns for garnish. There's pasta with a homemade pesto sauce and cheese. Desserts, too, are plentiful, some even flavored with...chocolate. But many are not, and feature sweet potatoes. Muffins, pies, etc.

Find a table with a friend or a stranger, and indulge. This is a warm-fuzzy type thing--feel free to use it as a mingle.

3. And wonderfully clean in the morning [Cleanup; Also Festival Green]
Cecil is, quite honestly, expecting to be the only person to stay and clean up. He's been up since about five in the morning and he's dragging a bit at this point. Oh, he did take the time to eat, so he's not starving, but like. He could use help putting the Green back to rights.

4. We've got everything, we're growing everything [Cecil Wildcards]
[You know how to find me to plot.]

Jedi Padawan Misa | OTA

2. Misa's stomach, and the smell of food, had driven her here. She doesn't know these people, doesn't have her saber, and really, wants to throw an epic fit. But Master Terrik would have many words for her if she dared. Honestly, the promise of food has her thinking several things, especially when she notices salt on the table.

Out of long habit, she doesn't reach for it. Salt being a drug to Arconans makes her cautious of using it. Most Padawans would agree that having it on the table would be an insult to the few Arconans that are around. But, there are no Arconans here, and while she thinks she spies those of nonhuman descent around.... it's not the same. She is so used to other races that sometimes, being surrounded by humans feels wrong.

So, when she bumps into one, she almost drops her plate, catching it with the Force, and saving her robe from any potential splatter. "My pardon." She says, softly. She's shy around people she doesn't know... usually, anyway.

3. Clean up is something Misa is well used to. With her outer robe over a branch like blue moss, she's helping clean up, with some cheating. Her Masters are not here, she can float a plate or five over to the wash. So what if she scrapes them using the same technique?

"Watch yourself." She says, plucking a plate out of the air. "My pardon, I got a little carried away."

Artemy moves with reflexes belonging to that of a surgeon to catch her plate, but alas, even his better than normal but still human reflexes aren't a match for superhuman abilities. He seems a bit bewildered at seeing a floating plate in front of him, but collects himself quickly, adjusting his coat as he does so.

"My apologies, I did not mean to bump into you." He says quietly right back to her. Artemy gestures to the plate, still floating in midair. "I assume you are responsible for your gravity defying meal?"

She smiles, and takes the plate again, holding it in her hand, easily. "Yes. My Master would tsk for such a frivolous use, but I find it quite convenient."

She cocks her head to the side. "My apologies, I am Misa, Jedi Padawan." She offers her spare hand.

"You would waste your time cleaning up your clothes when there is a party to be enjoyed." Something Artemy learned before coming here, time is everything. Time is more valuable than any other currency in life. While he's incredibly curious as to how she can make things float, he'll circle around back on that after he's introduced himself.

"Artemy Burakh, surgeon." He shakes her free hand, his handshake is firm but gentle as to not betray his claims of being a surgeon. "Though in saying that, I am assuming Jedi Padawan is a title or an occupation, not part of your name."

"Surgeon? You're a healer?" She asks, immediately curious. She's heard the term before from those that are not Force Healers.

"Ah, you are not familiar?" She asks. "Jedi Padawan, means I am still learning the Jedi Arts from my Master. The only name I have is Misa."

There are those who have first and last names among the Order, she is not one of them.

He gives a curt nod at her question about being a healer, seeing as that's very close to what he does, moreso than calling himself a physician, that's for certain.

"I have never heard of Jedi Arts, but today seems to be a day of learning." Artemy remarks, still thinking about the floating plate. "So you learn how to float plates from your Master, do you?"

She giggles at his question. "No, Master Terrik teaches me the subtleties of statecraft. A healer must be empathetic to those she treats, and cannot simply bully her way into a situation, no matter how much 'easier' it might be." There she's quoting. "Simple things such as floating a plate, or fetching something are often still learned in the creche. And advances as the child ages."

She shrugs. "My Master also trains me with my saber because statecraft does not involve just talking." Which she's found out a couple of times.

Artemy finds himself perking up at Misa mentioning that she is also a healer.

"Ah, so you are a healer as well, then. Using this... statecraft to tend to others wounds." He seems excited, almost, layered under a veil of stoicism, "I would be eager to see how this works with my own eyes if the chance presents itself."

"I use the Force to heal. Statecraft is diplomacy. I use that when necessary so I can heal." She explains, wondering if she'd been so confusing.

"Hopefully, we've no need of it anytime soon."

"Ah, I see. My mistake then." Artemy says, "I have heard of a Force. However, I do think Force from where I come from is quite a bit different from what you are describing."

He thinks of old man Kain. A Wizard, practically immortal, untouchable in his force, his study. Artemy wonders if this woman is capable of anything similar to the feats that Simon Kain was capable of before his rather timely death.

"A Force?" She asks, sceptical. She's always heard it as the Force, nothing more, nothing less. "The Force is created by all living beings. It surrounds us, penetrates us.... And at times extracts a heavy toll upon our lives."
