Yorick whistles pleasantly as he hangs up a new main announcement on the central bulletin board in town. There is an advertisement posted, bearing bold lettering. It reads:

For Health's Sake!

To ensure that proper care continues to be available for all in our growing community, we are pleased to announce a drive to increase supplies for medical use. No contribution is too small, and anything is appreciated. If you want to contribute but are not sure how, ask! Additionally, please see an attached list of dates and times at which various courses on first aid will be available. CPR is a highly valuable skill--- save lives! Please direct all inquiries to Cpt. Johnathan Tuttle.

The signature of one Captain Tuttle emblazes the bottom of the flier, along with that of Mayor Poe to indicate her approval of the project. There is also a date and time listed.

When did the ferry come? Why hasn’t this Tuttle gentleman been at any other events, like the job fair? (Wait, was he at the job fair? Suddenly you’re not sure.) If you ask Mayor Poe, she’ll tell you she can’t remember when she signed the paper but she remembers it happening, and she remembers that “John” (a surprising amount of familiarity from Hellen) stopped by a few days ago with it. What did he look like? What do you mean, what does he look like? Everyone knows what he looks like. But if you somehow managed to miss him, he’s a tall, fair-skinned man with auburn hair who looks like a soldier.

The rest of the people around town will all say the same. Dahlia, Neil, Degas, Yorick, Ambrose, Juniper, Dottie down at Empty Pockets, even Mr. Pennyburrow--- they all met him at one point and describe him the same way. He evidently came by recently, but you just missed him.

If you need something signed by the Captain, leave it with Dahlia. It will be signed in a timely manner, always just a bit before you come to pick it up. Anywhere you’re told you can find him, he just left. Oftentimes the reason he’s missing is to address an emergency, and the victims of said emergencies always recall the exact same man described by Mayor Poe having rescued them. You begin to feel like you probably have seen him, and your mind is just playing tricks. Surely you must have, right?

And of course, right as the drive is set to begin, all medical personnel in town (including the retired Agnes Winterbottom, the folks working at the apothecary, and even Anders, the local veterinarian) will wake up with a gift basket. They’re simple things containing mostly fruit and wrapped pastries, perhaps a book or candle or other small, pleasant item, each one incredibly thoughtful as if he knows the recipient personally. There is a signed thank you card in each one, with the same signature.

Captain Tuttle. Who is he? You must know, lest you go mad. Spend the days leading up to the charity drive investigating, or confront him at the drive itself--- surely there’s some way to see him!

Speed Dating

Looking for love? On one of the days leading up to the healthcare charity drive, town square is set up with tables for a speed dating event! Entry costs 10 Brass per person, and all proceeds go to help the charity drive.

When you sit down with your partner, you will have 10 minutes to each discuss one icebreaker question of your choice. Here’s a list of ideas:

1. What is the best gift you’ve ever received? What did you love about it?
2. What is something that you’ve tried once but will never do again? Do you regret doing it?
3. Do you find it more fulfilling to create things that are practical or things that are beautiful?
4. What is the strongest animal or monster that you think you could defeat in unarmed combat?
5. Do you have any pet peeves?
6. Describe your dream home.
7. What is your most prized possession that you have ever owned? Do you still have it?
8. How do you prefer to spend a rainy day?
9. How would you describe your clothing preferences?
10. What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever spent money on?
11. How long do you think it would take you to realize that you were permanently cured of hiccups and would never have them again?
12. What is something that you wish you could be good at immediately?
13. If you could have a magical item that performs one function that is customized specifically to your needs, what would it do?
14. If you suddenly had infinite money, what’s the first thing you would do with it?
15. Between the two, would you prefer to go to a black tie formal party or a silly costume party?

Town Council Elections

A member of the Pumpkin Hollow Town Council is retiring in a few months. Elections are opening for one new member! Interested in getting in on your local government? Start your campaign here! On the comment below, create a flier (either through formatting or just a narrative description of how it looks) with your information! In the title, put your name, age, and length of residency. The flier itself should discuss your experience, your values, and your ideal policies.

Elections will be held in September. Both PCs and NPCs will vote, so you will need to appeal to the townsfolk in general as well. Good luck!

Dahlia shakes her head in a short, fast motion. "No thank you. I'll just... L-leave him a note." She almost seems scared of Tuttle. Memory loss is a hell of a thing.

She quickly changes the subject. "By the way, I meant to ask--- you've been doing great work around here. Do you have an interest in working for Town Hall long term?"

Okay, yeah, he's definitely feeling kinda guilty now. Radar resolves that as soon as the whole drive's over, he'll let Miss Leeds in on the prank. Hopefully she's not gonna be too mad.

Especially if he's doing such good work that she wants him to stay on permanently! Radar instantly brightens. "Really, ma'am? Yeah, I'd love to keep working for everybody over there! It's been great, everybody's so nice and there's so much to keep busy."

"That's great! I'm glad you think so. We have a few positions opennn hang on." Dahlia goes digging through a file in her desk. "Let's see. Right now, Fever's our filing clerk, but we're considering asking her if she'd like an extra pair of hands. We're also looking for a dedicated gopher. Not glamorous, but it pays well and it's extremely helpful. If you'd prefer a part time gig, we're looking for a backup for Yorick's duties to the Mayor when he dies. And also I'm still looking to hire a new PA, which goes beyond Town Hall a bit."

"Oh, I mean, if you need somebody to do all that stuff, I can take care of it, no problem," says Radar, completely missing the point that Dahlia is offering him a job, singular.

(Or willfully ignoring it. Either/or.)

Dahlia snorts. "I said pick one job. Goodness, Radar, I've got half a mind to hire you for my PA just so I can keep an eye on you."

"Oh, right." A nervous chuckle, as Radar ducks his head sheepishly. "Sorry, ma'am. It really wouldn't be that big a deal, though, if you're clerking you gotta do all that kind of stuff all at once all the time. Um..."

Possibly he's trying to decide which job to pick. Possibly he's trying to calculate how to do all of them anyway without Dahlia catching on. The world may never know.

"What's the duties of the PA job?"

"That one would be less specific to town hall and more specific to me personally," Dahlia explains. "In addition to working here, I also manage several businesses and properties left to me by my late siblings, so I have a lot of meetings and paperwork and phone calls to juggle during the week. My last PA also jumped in on managing some of my household staff since I don't have a butler, but that was his idea more than mine."

It's amazing how little emotion is in her voice as she talks about her first love when she reduces him to just "my former personal assistant." Just months ago, they were screaming at each other, breaking each other's hearts. Perhaps she's pushing for a new assistant because she's lonely.

Radar rubs his chin, thinking hard. That all sounds pretty easy -- no worse than helping out Colonel Blake or Colonel Potter. The idea of doing stuff a butler would do feels real weird, to the point that it makes him want to squirm, but it doesn't sound like he has to do a ton of that if he doesn't want to. (Anyway, how's managing household staff any different from helping manage a bunch of doctors and nurses?) It wouldn't be too tough to handle all of Miss Leeds' work first and then sneak over to keep helping Fever and Zivia when he's got a minute.

...What? He likes them! He doesn't wanna leave them in the lurch!

"Yeah, I think that sounds good," he says with a firm nod.

Don't worry, Radar, helping Fever and Zivia during office hours is part of the gig.

"Great! Welcome aboard, then!" She offers him a handshake to seal the deal. "I've got some paperwork already drawn up for when I found someone, so you can start next week. Since this doesn't come with the starter kits that Town Hall gives out to most new employees, your paycheck and housing go directly through me. I'll put you up anywhere you like, including one of my spare rooms if that'd make your life easier. I have, uh. A lot of them."

Radar beams anew, grabbing Dahlia's hand in an enthusiastic shake. "I won't let you down, ma'am, I promise," he says. "I like where I'm living now, it's got a yard with enough space for my animals, so I think I wanna stay there if that's okay?"

Plus, it's pretty close to Hawkeye and Father Mulcahy if they need him, too.

"But I used to bunk outside the colonel's office so maybe I'll move up to one of those spare rooms eventually, if you don't mind me bringing Treble and Tiger Junior, too."

Dahlia breathes a laugh. "I'll keep one ready for you, even if it's just as a guest room. What kinds of animals do you have? I actually have two of those little... magic monsters? The friendly ones."

"Yeah, that's what I got, too!" Oh, boy, you thought Radar was enthusiastic before, wait until he starts in on his tiny-but-growing menagerie. He gestures with the clipboard about a foot off Dahlia's desk. "One of the little pink ones about this big -- that's Treble -- and Tiger Junior's one of the bread-dogs. They just walked right up to me the first day I got here! So did a buncha other ones, but I was still at the Oak & Iron so I didn't have space for all of 'em. Just those two."

But maybe the others'll find their way back to him now that he's got a yard!

"What about you?"

"Both of them wear witch hats, consequently," she says, laughing. "The one I got during Pumpkinfest last year. She's purple and seems to be a ghost. The other is some kind of fairy creature and is blue and pink. She gets a little feisty when people get emotional around her--- I had to train her not to hit people for raising their voice."

"Aw, poor girl," says Radar, with the sympathy of someone whose hearing is good enough that he could eavesdrop on dolphins if he wanted. "Sometimes I don't like it when people get loud neither. Hey, maybe next time I bring Treble and TJ to work, you could bring your guys too and they could play together!"

"That sounds fun! I think the girls get a little bored at home," Dahlia agrees. "I'm sure Vivian and Constantina will have a great time."

"Great!" He glances at the clock nearby, does a double-take, and -- "Oh, shoot, I gotta get going, Miss Leeds, I still got a bunch of stuff to do -- but I'll see you later! And I'll see you more next week!"

And with that, he dashes off.

(He already got a promotion! Boy, it's great working here.)
