WELCOME POTLUCK

Greetings, residents! Those more observant sorts among you may have noticed a large influx of very crowded ferries. In order to welcome our new residents en masse, Town Hall is holding a potluck in Town Square. Please bring a dish if you are able and make a new friend!

All of our newest arrivals need only bring themselves. We look forward to welcoming you all into our community, and may your lanterns always be lit.

This event is open to all! In light of our new influx of prospective players following the Great Sail Migration, we've decided to offer a small public event to tide everyone over until the TDM this weekend.

Snakes grimaces. "Okay, yeah, I can see how this place'd be preferable to that. It's pretty here, and it can be peaceful in between monster attacks."

Sam nods because...yeah. It's bad. "It'll be good to get to watch 'er grow up somewhere that people can look out for her safety, too. Got a few people that're real invested in her wellbeing besides me, so that's cool."

"That's great," Snakes says. "Yeah, the people seem pretty good about looking out for each other. That's ... a good change from my home too. I guess if you have the chance to decide where to live when it all gets sorted out, you'd rather stay here?"

"Depends on how it all goes when we're able to do what Mortanne wants. Might just, though. It's better'n anything we had back home even with the monsters n' shit. Ain't even died since I got here."

"I ain't died here either, but I hope that's not famous last words," Snakes drawls. "Me, I want to go back home, but not to the time period I'm from. If I can choose, I want to go to the future of my world. A lot of people have been telling me about it and I want to experience it for myself."

"Yeah, best not to jinx it." Even if you don't expressly believe in all that, it still bears stating. Don't go around putting that out into the world. "Makes sense though, wantin' somethin' better if you get the chance. That's what this place is for me, so maybe some future'll be that for you."

Snakes doesn't believe, but eh, in this place, who knows.

He nods thoughtfully. "Yeah. I'll keep hoping, anyway. Sometimes that's all you can do, I guess."

Too much spooky shit to discount it.

"Gotta keep movin' or whatever's comin' will catch up." He nods in reply. "Should get back to it, though. Left my kid with one of the neighbors but she's prob'ly getting antsy by now. You gonna head back or just hang out here for a while?"

"Yeah. I'll just finish looking around and then I'll go back too," Snakes says. "You'd better get back to your kid."

"Thanks man, I'll see you around." He lifts a hand, flips Snakes a small wave, and makes his way back to the festival proper to find Lou hanging out in the grass surrounded by flowers.

"Sure. See you." Snakes finishes his rounds, thankfully finds things uneventful for now, and returns to the festival as well.
