WELCOME POTLUCK

Greetings, residents! Those more observant sorts among you may have noticed a large influx of very crowded ferries. In order to welcome our new residents en masse, Town Hall is holding a potluck in Town Square. Please bring a dish if you are able and make a new friend!

All of our newest arrivals need only bring themselves. We look forward to welcoming you all into our community, and may your lanterns always be lit.

This event is open to all! In light of our new influx of prospective players following the Great Sail Migration, we've decided to offer a small public event to tide everyone over until the TDM this weekend.

"Oh, wow. People always find a way to sneak in disapproval, huh." César marvels at it a little.

César smiles at her eagerness to prove herself. "Famine means relying on people, even if you have money. Even the richest felt it, although not as much." But he's not going to start a debate in the middle of a potluck of all things. "Fresh eggs are the only eggs here, so you'll luck out there."

She looks skeptical. You come through famine by being prepared, stockpiling when times are good and keeping to strict rationing when they aren't. Life out in the black has taught her that much. But Tayrey, too, isn't inclined to start any sort of heated debate. She keeps her thoughts to herself.

'All fresh, no powder? Well, that'll be a treat for me, for sure! When the time comes, you can put me down as a regular customer.'

"Looking forward to it." César grins. "... I'll have to learn how to can and preserve with what tech we have here. Canning's a very exact science especially."

Tayrey gives him a thoughtful look. 'The pioneer colonists in my sector managed it. Granted, I don't know exactly how, and you'd have to start by making the machinery, I guess, but at least it's possible. Exact science means reliable results, yes? No guessing and hoping.'

"Well, it's more that improper canning can make you ill. I'm leaving the large batches to someone else." César shrugs. "I'll make some small batches for myself when it's easier to keep an eye on things."
