WELCOME POTLUCK

Greetings, residents! Those more observant sorts among you may have noticed a large influx of very crowded ferries. In order to welcome our new residents en masse, Town Hall is holding a potluck in Town Square. Please bring a dish if you are able and make a new friend!

All of our newest arrivals need only bring themselves. We look forward to welcoming you all into our community, and may your lanterns always be lit.

This event is open to all! In light of our new influx of prospective players following the Great Sail Migration, we've decided to offer a small public event to tide everyone over until the TDM this weekend.

It's in the breath, when she focuses. The absence of that jumping pulse at the living's neck. And yet, she has no mind reading, so the specifics are lost on her.

"You're not the first undead I've come across, Lord Osborne. I've no quarrel with you or your existence."

Does he feel like he needs to get that particular roadblock out of the way? It's not as though any newcomer has a leg to stand on regarding the living or dead status of their hosts.

"That's a relief to hear." The way the tension in his shoulders loosens says just how much of a relief. "I am a vampire, to be specific. But unlike the ones native to this land, I am in full control of my urges. I'm no monster."

[abhorrently]

No monster, huh. She barely resists the urge to say oh, but I am, and instead just gives him a reassuring look.

"One of my dearest friends is one as well."

That she calls them dearest should tell Lord Osborne that he has no need to justify himself to her.

"And I'm a half-elven sorceress, for all it matters. No idea if there's any native ones of those about, but I suppose I'll see."

"Then I am very sorry to have suggested you might be hostile at all." He does wonder exactly how dear they might be, but she did also say 'friend.' No matter. He may yet have a new friend in the making here.

"We do have elves and half-elves in this realm, and sorcerers too. You'll be welcome. On the odd chance that you aren't, simply tell them Lord Erik Osborne does not suffer insults to his friends and they shall change their tunes."

[abhorrently]

"A generous offer from you, my lord, but how are you so sure I won't misuse your name, now that you've given me license to use it?"

There's a light in her eyes - just teasing. She wouldn't really, since she doubts there'll be a call for it, and anyway, if someone's insulting, the right bolt of lightning sets them straight usually.

"Oh, it's a possibility of course, but what good does it do you to go around misusing the name of this town's favorite whore?" He can see the tease for what it is, and he must say he enjoys the banter.

[abhorrently]

She can only blink, the fact clearly a surprise to her-

"If you can get a lordship by whoring, I've been in the wrong business."

"We do happen to be lacking on the female side of things, if you're considering it. How are you with women?" He's not even really joking. He can't help everyone here.

"As for the lordship, that title came from my life before. But it does make for excellent marketing."

[abhorrently]

"I like women. Men too. Everyone, really - I don't have preferences."

Some people did, she knows, but not her. To her credit, she gives Erik's offer genuine thought, before politely shaking her head.

"Appreciate the kindness of the offer, but I don't think it's for me. My freewheeling nature shouldn't be paid, for I fear I'd lose some of the enjoyment if I thought about it like work instead of play. Still, it's good to know it's an option."

And to know there are those souls who might appreciate something casual. Gods forbid she accidentally lead someone into thinking there's a serious commitment when there's none.

"The same is true for me, and for many here." It's refreshing to meet someone new who is so willing to talk frankly about these things without blushing and stuttering.

"Not to worry, it certainly isn't for everyone. I venture to say you won't have any trouble at all attracting other free-wheeling partners if you wish them. I'd take you for a turn myself with no payment necessary."

[abhorrently]

"Hearing that from a professional is high praise indeed. Though I hope you won't take offense if I delay that until I'm a just a touch more settled. If I let a handsome face distract me too much, I'll never get my feet under me."

Which really only means a day or two, but she knows herself.

"None at all. We'll have plenty of time to lift you off your feet later, once you're good and established." Wink.
