At Home in Dark Places
The beach is a pretty popular destination for people who have some free time away from their work. And Chris can be found there often -- usually still at work, as they check over the returning fishing crews for emergenies of illness or injury.

But today, they've wandered away from the usual crowd, to the eastern portion of Tawny Beach... where it curves back down and the bluffs are clearly starting. Chris picks their way over the stony bits of the beach to run one hand along the rocky wall.

There's an opening a little further down. A dark mouth in the pale stone, just waiting to swallow the curious explorer.

And Chris is quite curious. Do you wish to join them, or perhaps dissuade them?

[December Open] Social Visits and Science

What: Making new friends? and catching up with old ones, progress on medicine and training...
When: December
Where: mostly at E. Kaspbrak Farm, but also in Lockwood Forest, Mr. Morgan's farm, and at the training grounds used for the levy.

Greenhouse: We Got Mold and Mold Accessories... but is it the Right Kind of Mold?
The greenhouse at E. Kaspbrak Farm is larger than standard, with two sections to it. The sections are separated by an interior wall of thicker, green-tinted glass and each has its own door to the outside. Eddie did not want to risk any cross contamination of the science project and food crop, and so First Aid's investment of 200 brass was used to pay for the alterations that they would need.

One door leads to the food crop area, where Eddie has set up the coffee plants provided by Bruno. The plan is for Eddie to grow the coffee and harvest it, then send it over to Bruno's farm for sorting and roasting, since he's the man who knows all about the intricacies of preparing the coffee bean. Sometimes Angel can be seen tending to the coffee plants.

Also in this area are a small plot of pepper plants, that Eddie won't let anyone else touch. He is growing them as a wintertime present for Angel, so that Angel can have food that is still 'loud enough to taste' even when they're stuck eating mostly preserved stuff.

The other door of the greenhouse leads to the science project, where First Aid and the rest of the medically and scientifically inclined group can experiment with producing penicillin. A selection of cantelope melons have been allowed to grow and go to rot, producing all kinds of mold. People supervise the growth and make notes on the various conditions that lead to particular mold developments.

You can likely find First Aid, Sally Boyle, or Bart Torgal there at any time. Eddie and Angel also work under their direction in mointoring the project.

Anyone is welcome to come by and check out either side of the greenhouse.


Pumpkin Hollow: Guard! Turn! Parry! Dodge! Spin! Ha! Thrust!
Eddie is expanding his knowledge of weapons fighting, because of all the Situations that happen on this island. Knife fighting and sword fighting with River have expanded to staff fighting with the trainers for the levy. He hasn't officially signed up for the combat team yet. Maybe someone should remind him.

He's tired and beat all to hell by the time the training sessions are over, but he'll always offer his fellow volunteers a ride home regardless. The only "fee", if one could call it that, is to give Missy a pat or two of thanks when she helps drop you off home.
