Note: The folks I listed up top are those who I figure would be most interested or involved in the farm upgrade. No pressure to actually tag in or thread, but know you can hop in if you like! And just because I didn't tag your character is not to exclude you, all are welcome :)

Feel free to hit up the open prompts here, on his previous log if you like. "Food Isn't Going to Grow Itself" and "Been Hanging Around This Town" are general enough to still apply.

OPEN to ALL - Expanding the Farm

Eddie's farm is being expanded. Supplies for building a new greenhouse are being carted out to Northwest Hollow (under the direction of experienced porter Sam, perhaps) and some of the neighbors are assisting in the construction of that.

There's also a pen being in the barn, for keeping the new nanny goat. And a larger coop for the chickens, now that a rooster is being added to the flock. Lot of building going on. Eddie is at least starting all of it, but he'll also be going to and from each work site as they ask his opinions on things.

OPEN to ALL - Not a Day, but a Few Hours of Rest At Least

Or perhaps you have arrived afterward, when an exhausted Eddie has flopped onto the settee and made the executive decision of 'I'm going to sleep here and to hell with it if my back hates me in the morning'.

Feel free to cajole him into eating supper and doing other self care things.

CLOSED to ANGEL - Home

Angel is always welcome at the farm, of course. He's got new animals to meet, for one thing -- maybe these will like him?

He may have showed up during the day and assisted with the various construction projects, but it's not until evening that Eddie and Angel will have time alone together. Still... time alone with Angel is something that Eddie treasures.

"I always like to see you. You can come help whenever you want to, when your work doesn't need you." Eddie asks, "How is the work with the fire brigade, anyway?"

Maybe that can be an opening for the conversation? Eddie isn't picking up on the vibe just yet.

[graveling]

"It's good, mostly. The rest of the team is learning how to work with me. Learning to trust me when I say 'I got it'. I don't know that I'll ever fit in. I'm weird, but hey, that's not news."

He shrugs, and then turns the motion into a cuddle.

[batteryacid]

"Do they... or did they... make you feel unwelcome?" Eddie wonders. He feels a little bad, not having asked that before. But he feels so comfortable with Angel, it never occurred to Eddie that others might have a learning curve.

Eddie cuddles with Angel and kisses his forehead.

[graveling]

"They need me, and I'm good at the work I do with them."

Yes, that's absolutely not an answer to the question asked.

[batteryacid]

Eddie says gently, "That's not what I asked, dearest."

[graveling]

"Urrgh." Angel grumbles. "I plead the fifth."

[batteryacid]

"Angel..." Eddie pets at Angel's hair, gently. "If you're not happy at your job, you don't have to stay there. Nobody can keep you there."

[graveling]

"But. I'm good at what I do. They need me. That's important. The people of the town can't do what I can, with fire."

[batteryacid]

"Maybe they need a reminder of that by doing without you for a while," Eddie says, somewhat sourly. He nuzzles Angel and says, "You can work on the farm with me instead... if you want. I wouldn't stop you from volunteering with the fire brigade either."

[graveling]

“Well. If I did work on the farm, having a place out in town would hardly make any sense.” Which is the real topic. He spends more time here than at ‘home’.

[batteryacid]

"You can live with me. We'll bring all the stuff you want to keep out here, and somebody new can take over the house in town." Eddie gives Angel another kiss. "I'd love to have you here with me all the time."

[graveling]

“The stuff I want to keep is what’s in my arms right now. You’re most important, Eddie.” There’s a light kiss to the tip of his nose, playful.

[batteryacid]

Eddie smiles brightly at that, and squeezes Angel in a hug. "I love you, Angel. You're most important to me."

A thought occurs to him, and Eddie laughs. "And no one is going to be surprised when you move in with me, either."

[graveling]

“Most of them won’t, no. The new doctor, Hawkeye, he asked me if anyone has a problem with us, with two men being together here.”

As opposed to the other new doctor, Watson. Lots of doctors now, none of whom can actually help Angel heal.

[batteryacid]

"No one seems to, far as I can tell. They're all just... happy for us. Which is a new thing for me."

But Angel knows how to be healed, at least. Even if the doctors can't help him, Eddie knows the way to Elsie's tree, that other spot of sacred ground.

They'll be okay.

"And I'm happy for us. You make me so happy, Angel."

[graveling]

"Well, it's mutual." There's a boa constrictor squeeze, warm and tight and wrapped up in the quilt.
