Summary: Lot 37; Library Visit; Something cute because I deserve it.
Warnings: Possible discussion of coercion and fears?

1. Then One Night [Closed to Gerry]
Cecil is sitting near the fountain in Festival Green when Gerry catches up to him, working on editing an article, a scowl on his face. Someone is quite aware Lot 37 has been sold. Someone is braced to be used at any moment.


2. He Was Nowhere to be Found [Open - Greymare Library]
Now, living where he does, right by Town Hall and the Clock Tower means that Cecil's home is also right beside the Library. In Night Vale, the Library was a place of grave danger, the Librarians violent and prone to attacking anyone who desired to read. Here, he's been reassured that's not the case. Regardless, though, there is a caution written on his expressive face as he walks with mincing steps toward the shelves, a look of awe on his face.

Perhaps you're also here to read, or you're the kind of jackass who'd sneak up behind someone who's clearly already on alert and scare them. Either way, here, have a Cecil.


3. Under the Starlight [Open - Outside somewhere]
There is a pile of leaves someone's raked up. Cecil has noticed this pile. It's tall and thick and looks awfully soft. And with a glance left, a glance right, and a broad grin, he's going to take a running leap into the pile, because at heart he's still a little juvenile.

Come join him, or maybe admonish him for ruining someone's hard work.

Cecil looks uncertainly at the paper, reaching out carefully as if not wholly convinced Gerry's just going to hand it over.

"What did it cost you?"

[skeletonkeay]

"...A friendship," he says softly, pressing the paper into Cecil's hand. "But it's fine. I should've expected it eventually anyway."

[lasthumanvoice]

Cecil frowns. "I'm sorry that you lost a friendship over this. Over me."

But he takes the paper, folding it and tucking it in his shirt pocket, where he's most likely to notice if anyone tries to take it from him. He'll need to decide what to do with it, in the long term.

[skeletonkeay]

"It's not your fault. He just wouldn't listen to me, and then he did something that--- Well, controlled me. Kind of like that thing, but a little different." Gerry frowns, casting his gaze aside. "It's--- fine. Like I said, he probably would've done something like that eventually. He's an Archivist. That's just how they are."

[lasthumanvoice]

Cecil reaches out, grabs Gerry's sleeve and tries to pull him closer. "Who is he? What can I do to keep you safe from him? What do you need right now?"

[skeletonkeay]

Gerry is surprised for a moment, but allows himself to be pulled and relaxes after a beat. It's better if he explains. "It's--- Jon Sims. He's got the ability to force people to answer any question he asks. I, uh. I didn't want to tell him what Lot 37 did. I was worried he'd want to--- to study it, you know? That's what the Archivist does, is hoard information, hence that ability. He wouldn't give it to me unless I told him, I wouldn't tell him until he gave it to me. So he forced me. But I don't think he's gonna come after me. I just won't talk to him."

[lasthumanvoice]

"Jon Sims? I wished him a happy birthday."

Cecil is so disappointed right now. And whatever comes beyond disappointment.

"I'm sorry, Gerry. I'm sorry that your act of kindness led to you getting hurt. And I'm sorry that you learned he is not to be trusted."

[skeletonkeay]

"It's..." Gerry lets out a heavy sigh. "It's whatever. You have your thing now, that's all that matters. I probably shouldn't have gotten rough with him, so I guess it's not entirely his fault."

With a flippant hand gesture, Gerry waves away the fuss. "Anyway. Are you alright? Is there anything else you need to do with the paper?"

[lasthumanvoice]

"I don't know. I've never had possession of Lot 37 before. Perhaps I have never owned all of myself before this moment. Perhaps I still do not."

Cecil leans into Gerry quietly, seeking the comfort of touch and warmth.

[skeletonkeay]

Gerry frowns, wrapping an arm around Cecil and stepping closer so as to let Cecil's head fall to rest on his shoulder. "...I don't see any other tethers coming from you. If that helps. Just the one thread, leading to that paper. If you had anything else ruling over you back home, it can't reach you here."

[lasthumanvoice]

Ah, what a delight it is to be held.

"Thank you. Knowing that means a lot to me."

[skeletonkeay]

"You are all yours now," Gerry murmurs, giving Cecil's back a light rub. "And I'm not gonna let anyone take that away from you. No matter who they are."

Even if they were a friend.

"You feel better?"

[lasthumanvoice]

"Yes, now I do. Though not better enough that I'm not going to stick on you for a while." Suffer, boyfriend. Get loved on.

[skeletonkeay]

"Oh noooo whatever will I do." His tone is utterly deadpan and he is grinning as he places a smooch on Cecil's head.

[skeletonkeay]

Gerry laughs softly. "Oh nooo, whatever will I do. A beautiful man wants to hug me, my life is over."

[lasthumanvoice]

"On the contrary." He punctuates his quip with a kiss. "It's only just begun. What are you doing for the rest of the day?"

[skeletonkeay]

"Dunno, I'd been dropping by Jon's to invite him to get pissed with me at Pumpkinfest and now that's off. So I guess I'm free, if you'd like me."

[lasthumanvoice]

"I'd like you very, very much. Pumpkinfest might even be a cute date. Or we could skip it and find some dark corner to act like teenagers in, up to you."

"Why choose? I've got time for both." Gerry grins, offering Cecil his arm. "Where to first?"
