"Thank you, Agent Jean," Eddie says, in the interest of being polite since Jean used a title for him. "I'm sure I can muddle through until we're paid our stipend for next month, if no one finds my old glasses before then."

He's really hoping that his glasses are somewhere on the island... and somewhere not terribly dangerous. (With his luck, they might be on the Paring River Bridge right now...)
