Eddie has been squinting and sometimes stumbling his way through daily life since he revived without his glasses. (He hopes they appeared somewhere else on the island and haven't been broken since.) At least gathering eggs is simple. He delivers them to town in the morning as a component of the meals provided for the search parties.

It's on his way back home on one of those days that he notices something catching the morning sunlight. It reminds him of Parade Day, but not a bad memory...

He never got his initial rescuer's name in the chaos, but he's since found out who it was (not hard, with the gossip mill working overtime in town). So he stops and calls out, "Jean? Hello?"
