That deflates César's sails a bit, but it's also a relief because: "... it's probably for the best if we don't raise a baby until it's safe. And we'd rather go the safe, slow maturation route rather than the one Tarantulas chose." He looks up from his notebook and flashes a smile to Mortanne. "Thank you. Sincerely, thank you. Either way we choose, Magne'll tell me its her job alone as a mother. Is there anything she can do now to physically prepare—beyond what she's doing now—to shorten the timeline? Or is that something I can ask someone on the island?"

As to not take up more of her time on this subject when others can answer the questions.
