It is both a question and a statement, a resolve offered out in metaphor. This barrier will break, this imprisonment end, and he will be free to return, alive again. And Gilbert may find his music carrying him to freedom, instead of pain.

"I do not think you are a reminder, if he's kept you so close. If even his art departed him, but he held onto you, does that not instead speak to how much you matter in his life?"
