When Chris catches sight of Erik sitting near the back of the room, their expression visibly brightens up and they smile warmly at him. (As they make their way toward his table they also happen to snag a fresh cup of that spiced hard cider for themself...)

"Happy Givingstide, Erik. I'm so glad you decided to attend." Chris slides into the seat across from Erik, sets their drink down on the table top, and reaches over to lightly touch Erik's hand. It's just for a moment, even though Chris is clearly reluctant to pull their hand away.

They take a sip of their cider, possibly to fortify their nerves, and then reach into a pocket and pull out a small box labelled with Erik's name. "This is for you," they say, pushing it closer to him.

The box contains a silver pocket watch on a chain. Chris is watching Erik with those big blue eyes, hopeful that their gift will go over well.
