Bart jumps a bit when he realizes his name is being called again, and he gives Mayor Poe a big-eyed look as she hands him the package. He smiles at the name on in and thanks her, scuttling away to be able to open it and look over the satchel, peering at the mechanism and realizing what it is. The brass, on the other hand, lands with a thunk on the floor by his feet when he turns it over, and he gapes at it briefly before kneeling to gather it back up neatly, and spotting the note as he puts it back in order.

He sets out when he's got himself a bit more in order, in the fun green and yellow toque that Chris has given him that clashes terribly with his coat, to find First Aid to be able to give him his gift in kind. He'd kept this one to himself, closed in the notebook that houses all of his recent research, and when it had been finished he had folded it neatly in thirds, to be placed in an envelope with a blue ribbon used to close it.

When he finds First Aid, he will be presented with an intricate drawing, a flower that looks to be made out of bismuth, with minute detail and color notes in metallic inks that make it shimmer. There is also a talisman in it, folded into a square of tissue, that turns out to be the same thing: a small, angular flower, carved into a medallion of the rather brittle metal. A note accompanies it:

Your patience with me and willingness to talk and work together has proven invaluable, both to my work and to helping me feel at home here. You mean so much to me as both a colleague, and as a friend. I've never had anyone to work with as closely before and you don't know what it means to me that you were among the first people that I got to know here.
